It’s that time again! That’s right folks, December’s Secret Assignment is here and we have made things a bit more challenging than they have been in the past. This month, your picture must be taken with a NON-CAMP person. No family members allowed, but other than that, go crazy. Get famous people or your friends who don’t come to camp but should. Either way, keep up the creativity. Submissions are due Thursday, December 15th. As usual, send your pictures to RHBARNHARDT@GMAIL.COM. Have fun and good luck!
What a great time of year we are getting into! Great food, extra time spent with friends and family, fun music, time away from school and work, and most importantly, the reminder of what God has done for us. As we were thinking of how we could best say “Happy Thanksgiving” to you, we kept coming back to our video from last year. It was just too hard to top! So here’s another look…
The Honor Band assignment was a definite hit, and many of you submitted awesome photos wearing your honor bands. Here are some pictures of you ladies looking good!
Catherine Green sports her honor band at the center of the state of Alabama on her campus of the University of Montevallo. It’s just a coincidence she is wearing green and white.
Grace Valentine eats at Cafe do Monde in her home of New Orleans while wearing her honor band.
Ragan Story and Kierston Haddock represent Crestridge and show off their honor bands while away at school.
Thank you to all who participated! We love to see your submissions. December’s assignment coming soon!
This month, Ron wanted you to get creative and snap a picture wearing your honor band. A bunch of you submitted fabulous pictures of yourselves looking stylish with your honor bands on. However, we did choose a winner. This month’s assignment winner is Mary Massey. Mary snapped a picture of her other Crestridge gal pals wearing their honor band’s while riding on a carousel.
Allie Buchalski, Molly Speese, Cari Phillips, Kayla Gula and Ashley Gryska all sporting their honor bands at North Point Mall in Alpharetta, GA.
Winner will receive a free store item of her choice sent to her door! Enjoy, and everyone stay tune for next month’s assignment.
That’s right…Kayla is here, ready to work hard and prepare for the summer! Kayla started working November 1st and has already been a huge help. She will help recruit and hire staff, brainstorm some new activities, write devotionals and blogs, and more. We are excited that she is here! Check out the video to get to know her better.
Don’t forget, submissions for the November Assignment are due this Monday, November 15th!
We were blown away by how many of you submitted pictures during our week long pumpkin carving contest! It was tough to find just one winner for each camp, but after much deliberation we have selected two winners. We want to thank everyone who participated, and we will be posting as many of the submissions as we can in the next few days. So, without any further ado, the winners are: 1)Mabry Craddock Shows her Cherokee pride 2)The Krugman Brothers show off their Council Ring Pumpkin
As most of you know, Halloween is right around the corner. In fact, it’s this coming Sunday! One way to celebrate Halloween and the fall season is to carve pumpkins. So we decided, why not have a Pumpkin Carving Contest! Come up with a design that has a camp theme, carve your pumpkin, then take a picture and send it to us. All submissions are due by this Sunday, October 31. Winners will be posted Monday. Please send your photos to rhbarnhardt@gmail.com.
Here is an example that was done this weekend:
When you’re done carving, you can even roast the pumpkin seeds for a delicious snack! Have fun and be creative!
The Off Season is a great time to fix up camp. As you know, the past two years have been big for us in getting new cabins and renovating the old cabins. This year won’t be as big but we are doing a couple things. The first is building a roof for the Crafts porch. This will add some extra covered space so if it’s raining, you can still sit out on the porch and work on your crafts.
Marty and Pop are working hard out there! I’ll be sure to show you the finished product in a couple weeks. Also, don’t forget to submit your pictures and/or videos for the first Secret Assignment by October 15th! We’ve got some great submissions already!
THAT’S NOT MY PROBLEM. When was the last time you said those words? Last week? This morning? When exactly is something your problem?
Read James 2:5-7 and be challenged by verse 5.
According to these verses, what is the relationship between poverty and faith?
Do you think having a higher income decreases a person’s faith? Why or why not?
How does being poor or wealthy affect an individual’s faith?
Do you think people tend to trust God more when He gives them things? Why or why not?
What about you?
When we hear the word poor, we automatically think of money, but there are other ways to be poor—and many people in this world are spiritually poor. In this high-tech world, it’s hard to imagine there are still millions of people who have few or no opportunities to hear God’s Word or worship Him.
If someone hasn’t had a chance to ever hear about Jesus, we shouldn’t turn our backs and simply say, “It’s not my problem.” It is easy to find excuses to avoid sharing with others, but if we don’t, who will? Sometimes, that means going to another country. But perhaps more often, it’s as simple as walking across the street and helping a neighbor or sitting with one of the loners at lunch. It might be as easy as inviting a friend to come to camp with you this summer. If you’re a believer, reaching out to those who need Jesus is your problem.
Attention Ridgecrest Nation! The Nibblenook is getting rid of the overstocked ice cream left over from summer. No tickets required for this one folks! Gallon upon gallons of free ice cream will be slowly melting in this unseasonably perfect weather. Do you want to enjoy your favorite flavor served up by the kind-hearted volunteers you have come to love? All you have to do is be here in the next five minutes and bring your appetite. That is where Ron, Phil, and Sharon will be. Imagine the joy of enjoying a cone with that all-star cast. Will you be there?
