Shawnee Cabin going up!
December 9th, 2008It didn’t take long for our new friends to throw up a floor system and the walls on the new Shawnee Cabin. They did all this work in only 2 days! It won’t be long and I’ll have some pictures with the roof on and a covered porch. Check back soon…
Also, they have poured the footers for the Spilman Lodge addition. It should be any day that they come back and start putting the floor system in. I’ll be sure to add some pictures soon…
Spilman Expands
December 1st, 2008
We have broken ground on the new addition to Spilman Lodge! (Click on the picture to the right to see what it will look like.) We are excited about a 24′x18′ expansion going onto the Choctaw Arapaho side of the Dining Hall. This new room will give us more dining space which will be crucial with the addition of a few new cabins. There will also be an 11′ cover front porch that will stretch the length of the building. The porch will be covered with a green metal roof, with traditional log spindals used for the railings. This front porch will be wide enough for additional rocking chairs for campers to hang out and enjoy their free time! With a little help from a local architect, we believe that this addition to Spilman will be a definite improvement that we can all be proud of. This project should be compete within the month, so check back often to see pictures!
Breaking Ground
October 2nd, 2008So we’re building some new stuff for next summer! Stay tuned for more updates, but check out these pictures of us breaking ground on Shawnee Hill. We are adding one cabin in between cabin 7 and 8. This new cabin is almost like a preview of what all our cabins will look like in a few years. I think you’re gonna like them! Here is a few pictures of us clearing a few trees and underbrush. I’ll be sure to update you with more pictures over the next few weeks and months as camp gets closer…
We have also started our Spilman Dining Hall expansion! You’re gonna love having more room to eat, and a new covered porch off the front of Spilman. This massive piece of equipment took out these 3 trees in about 20 seconds. He gripped them with it’s claw and snapped the tree in two….then he pulled the entire thing straight up out of the ground. This was a sight that any one of us would have been impressed with. I’m thinking about adding a Back Hoe Skill for next summer! What do you think?:) Now that’s my kind of Volvo!

Check back soon for more pictures!
Ground Breaking News
September 25th, 2008Well, after several months of praying, planning, meeting with contractors, more praying, more planning, and more meetings with contractors, we’ve finally taken it to the next step! As of Wednesday, September 24th, we officially began clearing the land for the new cabins. It is all very exciting but also a little scary at the same time. There’s no turning back now! The leaders of Ridgecrest Summer Camps truly believe this is the direction God is leading us in. We will now have the opportunity and privilege of impacting 400 extra campers between both camps each summer! What an honor! My goal is to give you weekly updates about the construction that may include pictures and short video clips. So please check back regularly!
