This summer will be the first summer we offer Lacrosse Skill at Camp Ridgecrest! We are currently ordering equipment, talking with Instructors and creating lesson plans to provide an excellent experience for campers new to lacrosse and those of you who play back home. Can you bring your equipment you ask? Yes, bring your pads, sticks and helmet in a bag with your name on it and we’ll take it on Opening Day. If you don’t have equipment, no worries, we’ll have some for you! So get excited! Camp is a short 7 weeks away! We’re excited to see you soon…

1 of the 5 new skills at Camp Ridgecrest 2009

April 15th, 2009

woodworking-toolsMany camper and staff alike have compared this man to Jack Bauer from 24. The legend says that he can do anything. I’m here to tell you that the legend is true. And I want to share some other exciting news! We have recruited our very own Marty Quinn to teach a new skill this summer. This will be the first summer we will offer a Wood Working Skill in a very long time. An old tradition at camp that faded long ago has been brought back! And who better to lead the charge than our Facilities Director Marty! The skill will be held in the Camp’s wood working shop, also known as “Fort Marty,” right next to the lower green. Some of the projects will be smaller such as picture frames, as well as larger projects such as tables or planters that will be built and used right here around camp! What a cool way to leave your mark for years to come. Due to the tools used this skill is reserved for Choctaw and Arapaho campers.
