Ridgecrest Camps
4-6 inches of snow! 12 inches of ice!
March 8th, 2009
We were surprised at the amount of snow we received! All of us had trouble making it up the hill from the front gate. Then once we made it up, we were almost stuck there! The ice held us at camp for a while with the heat turned way up and our winter layers on. Not the typical scene you think of when you remember Camp Ridgecrest! It’s quite a jump from playing 4-sqaure with our shirts off, or screaming across the lake on the zip line. But it was still a ton of fun. We’re lucky to get to come and play and work at camp every day! Enjoy the pictures, we have some more coming soon of some projects around camp!
So, 12 inches of ice?? Not 12 inches deep, but the ice cycles were 12 inches long! Check these out… I opted to not park under the ledge of ice spikes. That would be bad for the Subaru.
A Winter Wonderland
January 20th, 2009Here a Cabin, there a Cabin, Everywhere a Cabin
November 25th, 2008I know that I’ve said this before, but I can’t believe how fast the cabins are being built. The last few posts about the cabins showed pictures of floors and walls, but now they look like the real deal! Ron, Phil, Sharon and myself trekked over to Crestridge again this afternoon and were amazed by the progress of a few short days. Not only are there floors and walls, but now there are roofs, covered porches and even showers in one of the choctaw cabins! Below are some shots of the progress on the new Chickasaw camper cabin.
Now here are some pictures on the construction over on Choctaw hill. Take particular notice of the dual shower stalls…warm water for everyone…get excited
The Cherokee cabin only has the footers and floor finished right now. But it shouldn’t be long before the framing, walls and roof is added to it also. If you’re ever in the area, stop on by so we can show you in person. Otherwise, keep enjoying the updates here online.
Winter Wonderland
November 21st, 2008It’s definitely winter here in the mountains. Most days this past week have been cold, cold, cold. A mountain winter is going take some time for this North Texas girl to get used to. One thing I love though is waking up to it snowing, and that didn’t happen too often back home! So, I drove around camp today and took pictures of various places. It was only a dusting, but even so, camp still looks pretty in white. Hope y’all enjoy seeing these!
