Horseback Riding

Campers begin their skill through familiarization with the horses in the ring. This controlled environment exposes the campers to basic, intermediate, and more advanced (depending upon the class) techniques in English riding. They will learn the skills necessary to communicate with a large animal through small gestures and movements. They also will build their skills to take part in trail rides. Our well trained, certified staff goes to great lengths to increase the campers’ comfort level with the horses and their riding abilities. One of the primary aspects of the horseback program is that we familiarize campers with the horse as an animal to be respected and cared for. Crestridge campers help with feeding and grooming of the horse during specially designated times.
NOTE: Campers who have completed the 4th grade (by the summer) and up may choose Horseback as one of their skills. Campers who have completed grades 1-3 will have the opportunity to do pony rides.
